Commission - Part Two
I was recently commissioned by private clients to make invitation cards and table place cards on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. What a thrilling project it was! First because it is not everyday one meets a lovely couple who celebrate 60 years of marriage, and second because it led to my playing with symbols. In my previous post you can find the illustration I made for the invitation cards, and here above there is my illustration for the table place cards. As the background was too bright and prevented a clear perceptibility of the diamond I changed it for a darker blue (see below). What is it with these birds? Well, they are Eurasian cranes; they are monogamous for life, and they are symbols of longevity and fidelity. I also love drawing birds :)

About the project 'A Christmas decoration a day'.
As you may have noticed already Christmas is most emphatically over - except for the Orthodox, I wish you all a happy Christmas tomorrow! I managed to make seven Christmas decorations out of the scheduled twenty four... Perfectionism and a lack of spare time bilked my efforts to finish the project. I also realized that I love making paper decorations, and that I don't want them to be exclusively made in December for the Christmas tree. I therefore retitle my project; every blog post showing a new handmade decoration will now be entitled 'Decoration' followed by its number. I won't be able to make one decoration a day though, only when I have some spare time before me. Feel free to send me your suggestions about what decorations you want me to make.
